Kukup was an important town in Pontian district. Hence, all the important government department were built in Kukup.

Kukup Immigration Office is situated by the Kukup main road. The office used to be built on wooden stilts and would require visitors to enter via a wooden bridge. It is currently rebuilt as a 3-storey building in sturdier and safer concrete cement.

Despite Kukup Immigration Office is always crowded, it is now very easy to renew a passport. It is very quick and convenient to get a passport renewed, usually within a day provided it is a working day for the Immigration Office.
