Transportation in the Early Days

Transportation began after the Kukup main road was constructed, the fishermen started to export their fishes to Singapore with lorry trucks. The cash from the sales will be brought back the next day. The fishermen work daily, except during the Chinese New Year.

The cash from the sales will be accepted by a representative and distributed to the fishermen after deduction of a fee. This fee is still being applied in sales till this day.

In those time, the fee was two percent of the sales revenue. In other words, if the sales revenue is RM10, 20 cents will be deducted. The fee will be added to the community fund, which will be used for the construction of public areas including the schools and temples.

The fishes were given to the exporters on consignment, there was no issue with their credibility.

To put it another way, our economy is based solely on trust.
